VMS-style Cu-Zn project of roughly 148.1 km² in Southern Norway.
Located in the Folldal Kommune of Innlandet Fylke in Central Norway, Teako’s 100% owned Grimsdalen Project is a Cu-Zn VMS exploration opportunity with exposure to both brownfields sites with reported historic production and underexplored greenfields sections of the historic Folldal Mining District. The project covers ~148 km2 of prospective ground in the historically significant Folldal Mining District.
The Folldal Mining District is one of the main sites of historical base metal production from VMS deposits in the Norwegian Caledonides. In addition to this historical mining activity, Folldal Verk AS also undertook significant exploration activities across the district through the 1970s and -80s.
The opportunity for discovery in the Folldal District lies at depths exceeding those of the exploration techniques employed by Folldal Verk AS in the 1980’s1,2. Mineralization of greater than 100 m is unlikely to have been found by efforts to date, with limited diamond drilling testing targets away from the known deposits. One area of particular interest for modern exploration is the ‘Northeast Greenfields’ or Kakelldalen area of the project. This area has limited potential for outcrop and with boggy ground traditional geochemical prospecting would be challenging to interpret. None of the grids surveyed by Folldal Verk AS cover this ground, leaving it relatively unexplored beyond the DIGHEM and modern NGU helicopter survey, presenting a unique exploration opportunity in a known mining jurisdiction.
