Why we are making this
Norway mined copper for three centuries before it found oil. The mines closed, the towns stayed, and exploration went dormant — but over the past few years, it has begun its return.
The Sleeping Giant is a four-part documentary about that ground and the people returning to it. We are making it because the case for Norwegian minerals is usually told in numbers, and numbers do not show you a quarry above the clouds or a miner’s grandson reading a core log.
